Why did you decide to run?

In 2016, I was in Geneva, Switzerland working for the United Nations. I knew that I could no longer call myself a human rights lawyer if I did not return and take care of the issues happening in my own home. When Virginia failed to ratify the ERA in the beginning of the year, and I saw no woman on the ballot, I knew my time to run had to be now. When we look back at this time in our nation’s history, I want to be able to say that I did everything possible to change the system for the better and speak justice to power—from getting arrested outside of Senator Collin’s office during the Kavanaugh confirmation (see picture above) to running for House Delegate of my hometown.

Why are you running in this community?

Sterling is where I grew up. I am a product of the Loudoun County public school system. My brother and mother both teach in Loudoun County. If there is a place to make a difference, it’s in the community that made me who I am today.
